How would life be if we had the full support of our vibrant, resolved ancestors and could call upon them for comfort, blessings and wisdom teachings? Now imagine that this ancestral connectedness can be re-established without activating our ancestral ghosts, the unresolved, who might be trying to inappropriately resolve their lives through us.

And after re-connecting with our well blood and bone ancestors, imagine continuing with a practice that could ask for the well and wise to heal and ancestralize the unresolved and troubled of our lineages.

Yes, it can happen. An entire lineage can be healed and then simply called upon as my ancestors without calling the family troubles to us. This requires work from our ancient vibrant ancestors and know-how from us. (And some personal grief and forgiveness work as well as we begin to understand that the dead can change.)

The importance of this work cannot be over-estimated. Intergenerational trauma lives within the descendants of those lineages that have not been able to resolve their troubles. When this happens, the contact with the well and wise is usually broken, the lineage gifts are obscured and we lose the circle of well and appropriately-power-filled ancestors who carry strong wisdom traditions. Let’s take care of this, reconnect with the ancient well and wise and ask for help transforming the legacies of our people — past, present and future.

The framework my co-teacher, Christina Sillari, and I have chosen for this necessary work is based upon and inspired by the brilliant model developed by Daniel Foor. This model is especially appealing to us due to Dr. Foor’s training with people who have maintained unbroken ancestral reverence. Through shamanic journeying held by the grounded gifts of ancient wisdom, we will ask for reconnection to and healing for at least one of our lineages that has been left untended, probably for many centuries.

My experience with this protocol is that it yields safety, compassion and effectiveness.
