My love for the land and all things in it (especially cats!) began as a child growing up in rural North Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I drew upon this love and communication with Nature in my earlier work as an environmental attorney, former board member of the Pownal Land Trust (now merged with Royal River Conservation Trust), creator of children’s Nature programs, and facilitator of numerous drumming circles in Nature. After I reached a certain point of what turned out to be shamanic initiation through my Tibetan Buddhism practice, the universe called me to my heart’s work of shamanism. I have been practicing shamanism and teaching others this powerful practice for over twenty years.
I am also a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). It’s such a joy to support both my psychotherapy and shamanic clients/students as they learn to drop harmful labels and ill-fitting expectations that burden them, heal wounded parts of themselves, and then bring these gifted parts home, leading to greater wholeness and often a discovery of unique genius. What a privilege to witness!
Yet, my deepest heart’s work manifests through my teaching. I’m committed to creating shamanic communities that contain self-aware, compassionate practitioners who deepen into the frequency of their True Selves, who join Heaven and Earth within and without through discovering and living their unique beauty within the fabric of Oneness, and who are learning creative and collaborative approaches to both personal problem solving and world healing.
My students tell me that my teaching style is warm, egalitarian, humorous, intuitive, precise and firmly rooted in the wisdom of my compassionate guides. I feel that it is also deeply impacted by the wisdom and generosity of my many Upper, Middle and Lower World teachers, past and present, from this non-exclusive list: Claude Poncelet, David Corbin and Nan Moss, Betsy Bergstrom, Sandra Ingerman, Evelyn Rysdyck and Allie Knowlton, Ai-Churek, Daniel Foor, my compassionate spirit council, the compassionate weather spirits, my well and wise ancestors, my students, clients, family, friends, and the opportunities found in all of life’s experiences.
For over twenty years I have offered trainings that include beginning shamanic journeying, psychopomp (see blog #2, Footnote 1), shamanic practitioner apprenticeships, curse unraveling, hollow bone work, ancestral lineage healing, shamanic supervision groups for practitioners and shamanic journeying practice circles. Also, mentoring for individuals and groups is a great love of mine, as is facilitating the Pownal Weather Circle, which is in its fifteenth year of monthly meetings.
I have been living joyfully in southern Maine since 1993, sweetly held by my family, a farmhouse, my animal, vegetable and mineral friends and all the seen and unseen compassionate spirits who live here with me among the 48 acres that we love and steward. May I embody and radiate the wisdom of my guides and be the current face of my ancient, well and wise ancestors. May we all walk this beautiful Earth in transformative ways.
